The Consequences of Brexit [part 5] Read 1st post before posting

Recommended Posts

I think Anna Soubury and Ken Clarke will rue the day they brought about the demise of the Tories.

Personally, at first, I liked the White Paper. But it appears I have been misled. When the full details emerge it looks like a soft Brexit. Nobody voted for that.

Farage on his show tonight stated that he is to stand for Ukip leader in March and they are going to put candidates up in all leave seats, especially those where the people voted to leave but the MP backed remain.

Interesting times ahead.

A backlash is coming. The public didn't vote to Leave the EU in greater numbers than have ever voted for anything in our entire history only to have a weak and corrupt establishment elite time waste for two years in order to water down Brexit until it has none of its original meaning...

Yes - Johnson, Fox, Rees Mogg, Davis etc have been abysmal.

BTW its hardly surprising a referendum these days results in "greater numbers than have ever voted for anything in our entire history" given that the population is the greatest in our entire history.

Yes you absolutely did. You voted to leave AND let the govenment decide HOW TO LEAVE.

If that isn't your understanding, then that is your fault for not understanding how our govenment and democracy works.

A political backlash.

A political backlash that is driven by people's grievances.

People would have a very serious grievance if they felt their vote in the referendum had been diluted out of all meaning and was not respected by the political and establishment elite.

Glad to see that David Davies stuck by his word and exercised his democratic right to change his mind...

Now if only the rest of the government would recognise the overwhelming desire of the country to change theirs...

The comments section on the express website will be going nuts.

The Brexit vote is about much, much more than our membership of the EU.

It's seen by the disenfranchised, the weak, the poor, as the people versus the establishment. The vote gave a voice to those who have long been neglected, ignored and shunned for not sharing the same opinions as the wealthy establishment elite.

For the result of the vote to be ignored, diluted or possibly rerun is a step too far for a significant number of people. There will be huge consequences for our democracy, and we will enter new and dangerous territory.

Think it's already started and can only get worse.

France, Germany and Italy now have large political parties that hate the EU.

Then there's Easter Europe who has gone anti-immigration.

The EU is critically flawed. Large sections of the populations just don't buy the benefits of the EU. It is doomed.
