Except, Canada and Japan don't, really. They trade on better terms for some goods, than non-FTA'd countries. Not for all goods, and not for any services, though.

To continue (reboot?) your analogy, they have access to the pool building, they can use some of the facilities, and they'll eventually be allowed in the kiddie pool. But the olympic one is permanently off-limits.

The UK's economy is 80% services. Draw your own conclusions.

BoJo is facing a private prosecution over his "£350m a week" good idea.

Yes, the uk economy is 80% services, but not in terms of exports. We've got plenty if Costa's but that aint helping the balance of trade.

We will be paying billions to use their pool, but use of our pool will be free, even though they use ours more than we use theirs.

In guardian style, the headline is misleading. He's crtisizing this deal, not brexit.

Interesting spin there.

If he had had a choice he wouldnt vote for the deal. Would he go for no deal? Isn’t clear.

Hard Brexit is effectively dead. The ERG is a turkey. UKIP have just employed Tommy Robinson and have realigned their priorities completely. No PM is going to take us out on no deal - they’d be publicly lynched after the economic mayhem that would unfold.

Time to be sensible and go for the softest Brexit possible or better still no Brexit at all.

Do you genuinely think there is an alternative deal waiting in the wings?

Yes, there is a no deal option waiting in the wings.  How about our Prime Minister follow her own  rhetoric and implement a no deal Brexit  which is better than the bad deal on offer?

My thoughts as well.

To be honest if he really advocated no deal he would have really promoted it in that interview.

Its finally clear after two years what the ERG really want: Canada+++. That will never get through Parliament though.

This looks dead

Your £95bn trade deficit in goods with the EU is offset in part by a £28bn trade excedent in services (40% of UK exports to EU, mostly financial and legal: exactly what is being lost through exiting the SM and restoring NTBs).

What looks dead?

The situation is the EU 27   by some kind of majority and the UK via Mrs May  are going to agree to the draft withdrawal agreement on Sunday.  Then the UK Parliament will vote to either accept or reject the  withdrawal agreement on offer.  If the vote is rejected by Parliament then our Prime Minister can ask the EU to make amendments to the draft withdrawal agreement before Parliament vote again about the withdrawal agreement.  The EU can refuse to make amendments or agree to make changes. Then Parliament will vote again about either an amended  or un amended  withdrawal agreement.  If Parliament reject the withdrawal agreement for a second time, then the UK will leave the EU on 29th March 2019 without a deal.

The UK can only remain in the EU or have another referendum if the UK Government introduce new legislation.  However, Mrs May guaranteed to Esther McVey  in Parliament  this week that the UK will be leaving the EU on 29th March 2019.

Public sentiment is against it. The reality is becoming clear, and people are justifiably concerned.

May promises lots of things that don’t happen.

Even the withdrawal agreement leaves enormous scope for the U.K. leaving on very highly converged terms, after multiple transition extensions.

Reality is here. Concentrate on changing locks.
