According to the latest figures provided by the Commission, fraud affects 0.2% of the EU's annual spending.

Wow that's pretty good.

Unfortunately there are opportunities for fraud in all large organisations. 0.2% in an organisation as big as the EU is pretty impressive.

I had no idea that it was so low. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

You must live in a different world, what reason would you give for the swing to the right?

Mainly economic.

Issues such as nationalism and national identity are pretty much irrelevant in the 21st century and really only appear when ****stirrers raise them for their own political ambitions.

Well you either on another planet or just will not face reality.Perhaps national identity doesn't matter to you but to millions it does , people who have zero political raise this issue. Do you only ever speak to left wing liberals.

In 1928 there was a worldwide economic depression which was followed by the rise of the right in Europe.

In 2008 there was a worldwide economic recession which was followed by the rise of the right in Europe.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

The 2008 recession was no where near as bad as 1928. You are looking for any reason to explain the swing to the right ,when you know the real reason.

You are absolutely right.

It is people who have zero political involvement who are most interested in this issue. People who don't vote. People who don't join a union. People who aren't interested in education. People who tend not to mix outside their own kind.

People who don't know much tend to be much more easily frightened than those who understand the world. That is why such people are meat and drink to populist, right wing figures with lazy slogans and dog whistle politics.

I should have made it clearer, people who have no political ambition neither left or right. Ordinary everyday type of people do not want to lose their national identity ,it is the same here as in European countries. You seem to be one of those who tend not to mix outside  your "own kind" which sounds a bit strange to me whats own kind mean? You really put much into your opinions, all of which matter as much as the next persons. For your information, people who don't vote got off their arses and voted leave, so obviously leaving the eu mattered to them.

Its the EU who are guilty of trying to dilute national identity ,and turn Europe into one big  multi- cultural experiment . If some people had more pride in their  national identity maybe society wouldnt be in the mess it is.
