The Consequences of Brexit [part 5] Read 1st post before posting

Recommended Posts

Before the Brextremists get too excited, today's exercise was partly an attempt to frighten waverering MPs into supporting May's deal.

No deal won't happen, May's deal won't be approved, there will be no further negotiation with Europe so a second referendum or no Brexit at all are the two most likely outcomes now.

Its been said that a second referendum would severely damage uk politics and will not be passed, so the only two outcomes are an acceptable deal to the majority in the house or no deal.

There is no Father Christmas who is going to give you a no Brexit or a second referendum.  Enjoy your last Christmas in the EU.

I'm going call May's  bluff no deal will not happen she is crazy but not that crazy. ' Operation Yellow Hammer' an masterpiece of fiction designed to scare MP's into voting for her deal .

She will play the game of ' will I pull the trigger?' until the 11th hour time is on her side has time is short she keeping her cards close to her chest keeping everyone guessing her next move. May has an nack for survival just like the leadership contest she knows no one wants the job but put on the water works get that vote she got though.

The question of EU membership will go on into the future even if we leave I do believe that future generations will rejoin the EU and they will look back and ask why did they do that?

A cynic would say that the pound is being driven down Ready for a bounce back on a second referendum announcement.

There are phenomenal profits to be made

I suspect this has happened throughout the process since 2016.

I think people will be going to prison when all this is done.

Its madness to think no deal preparations is a bluff/threat by May , can you imagine the cost? it will cost billions.Waterworks? I am far from conservative but she has got a lousy job that no one else wants, would you being a remainer.

It’s a bluff. She is trying to scare MPs into line.

If May went with a no deal, people would be still talking about it in 100 years such would be the economic devastation

You want your deal to go through the House of Commons the house is hostile to your idea very little chance of it becoming law. May has a think what about a few scare stories backed up by plan that looks real make sure the media gets to see it ops the plan leaked and seen in a car with text in full view.

IIRC The deal also has to be approved by The House Of Lords as well.

Looks like its a no deal job, parliament can't stop it unless there's a deal that they can agree on which looks more unlikely than no deal.

Like many Brextremists, you don't seem to understand how things work.

Parliament doesn't have to agree on any deal to extend, suspend or even cancel Article 50. It can vote to ask the EU to delay or suspend Article 50 or it can even pass legislation to actually withdraw Article 50 altogether.

Even some cabinet ministers as well as MPs like Anna Soubry, Nick Boles and Dominic Grieves have now said that they will resign the party whip if there is even a whiff of leaving the EU with no deal in place. Of all the various options open to Parliament, preventing no deal has the greatest support with over 90% of MPs of all parties saying that they would never allow it.

It won't happen.
