Only a deal that cuts all ties will deliver the referendum result. We have been in fully (bar Schengen and the €uro) for the last four decades and have benefitted enormously from that membership. We are currently in the top six economies in the world. If we cut all ties with the EU do you still think we will will still be a top six economy within 12 months? What the cranks and the lunatics advocating no deal repeatedly fail to acknowledge is that MOST global trade deals we have are either because of our membership of the EU or so that EU markets can be accessed through the UK. We live in a capitalist world. Apart from gold reserves, most countries' wealth is based purely on confidence. If our economy tanks even half as badly as being predicted, we could very quickly find ourselves outside the top 20 of world economies with very little chance of ever recovering our current position. We are where we are largely because of the enourmous economic benefits of the British Empire (basically stealing stuff with our navy meaning we went unpunished). Once we lose that position we will revert to being a very small country with very few natural resources. The irony of all this is that those who wave the Union Flag the highest are advocating a course of action that will eventually bury it!

They are basically involved in finance and have made billions already from betting against Britain during this crisis. And they stand to gain more if things get worse. Actively profiting from the destruction of our industry and reputation. These are the real enemies of the people. No doubt of that. 3 minutes ago, tzijlstra said: What is interesting to me is that what he is predicting, should Brexit be blocked, is the exact thing I am predicting should Brexit go ahead. A far right surge won’t happen without people like him stoking it.

I guess we find out next week. I'm not sure he will get a go. A successful no confidence motion in the government would require the DUP and a number of conservatives to vote for it. When push comes to shove, I don't see enough doing that, especially the DUP. Should he actually pull it off, then he's basically in same situation as May, with non enough MPs across the house to support any outcome. Some sort of government of national unity might be possible, but everything between the various groups seems so bitter, it's hard to see one working and Labour will be haunted by the spectre of Ramsey MacDonald. Were he to force a general election by one way or another, there is no guarantee he would win it and also win it with enough MPs who shared his views to force what he wanted through parliament. and anyway the EU have pretty much rejected what he's suggested so far. To "Cutting all ties is as bad as staying in fully" Yes. the difference in you and I is clear. I respect the views of those who voted Remain and think their concerns should be considered in the Leave arrangements. You clearly want the majority who voted Leave to be cometely ignored. I prefer non-totalitarian politics.
