hauxwell
I’m really pleased that they are all out safely. I also feared the worst. It wouldn’t surprise me if Hollywood make a film about how these boys were rescued, sometime in the future.
francypants
Wonderful news that all are out safely. Well done to all the rescuers who selflessly risked their own lives. Condolences to the family of the brave diver who died.
melthebell
R.I.P Saman, heroes the lot of them for the selfless sacrifice and risks to get them out, i think the entrance to the cave should be blown up to stop it happening again, and worse
blake
R.I.P Saman, heroes the lot of them for the selfless sacrifice and risks to get them out hindsight is always 20/20 but he shouldn't have gone up there. He was actually working as a security guard at a Bangkok airport but did have enough dive experience to go up there and blag his way into the team. But he was out of practice apparently and also not enough experience at such difficult cave diving - obviously. Oh well. At least he tried. He will be the hero that emerges out of this. All the pictures that Thais insist on putting on plates and stuff, to remember the event, will be of him and not of the lads who were saved. ---------- Post added 10-07-2018 at 20:55 ---------- It wouldn’t surprise me if Hollywood make a film about how these boys were rescued, sometime in the future. they said that about the Chile miners story too - also an absolutely first-class news story. But so far no movie. together with escaped deadly wild animals on the loose kind of stories, a la the movie 'Jaws', these kind of news stories are the very best, of them all. Nothing beats them, for suspense, durability (they can be front page, for weeks), and human interest.
drolnhoj
Just hope they don't crucify the coach. The guy was only wanting to give the kids an adventure. So sad if he gets blamed.
petemcewan
Congratulations to all those involved. The coach had instructed the boys to meditate to conserve their energ.

blake
what I would like to see is some anonymous, and probably Chinese, benefactor giving the boys, and especially their coach, ringside seats at the forthcoming SEAsian football championship, the AFF Cup. South east Asian soccer teams have no chance of doing anything in even the wider Asian cup, never mind the actual World Cup. This is their only chance of glory. Thailand are the reigning champions. I'd love to see the lads and their coach see their country, defend their crown. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_AFF_Championship for the first time ever, it's being held in more than one country - the Philippines, and Indonesia. let's hope, there is not an earthquake, of the wrong type. Brin56
Fake news. A news outlet (BBC) in it's afternoon bulletin said the boys were semi-conscious during the dive. That can't be true. This is because they would not have been able to make the short scramble out of the last sump in a semi-conscious state.
