Does anyone remember the SUT bus that ended up in Ponds Forge swimming pool?

The pool was under construction at the time. I think it had the roof on but no walls. The bus shot out of the interchange, straight across the road and through the constructon site hoardings, landing in the empty pool.

I've seen photos of this.

Sorry if this as been said but it wasnt a SUT it was a SYT leyland national (26 ?) which bounced off a domintor the national ended up in the swiming pool which as you say was been built it was left there over night

I don't remember that. However, I do remember a 27 bus leaving East Bank road, just after Daresbury Drive and sliding down the grassy embankment, ending up wedged under the walkway of the first block of Maisonettes. (Longest sentence in history :loopy: )

I think it was about 1973, does anyone else remember it?

I remember that and a previous incident at the same spot in the mid sixties. I had close relatives on East Bank View and happened to be visiting on both occasions. The earlier one involved a bus with a rear platform and the later a bus with entrance at the front. In the earlier one the driver tried to turn the bus and it ended up facing backwards down the embankment. Photo and report in "The Star" at the time.

hmmmm your the jinx then eh?

He he! Could be right. That's what my other half says:)

The entire block of maisonettes is long demolished so there's nothing to stop a bus there til it hits the houses quarter of a mile down the hill.
