Government cash surplus-does anyone understand it and can explain it t

Recommended Posts

So the fact the tax burden on the top 1% has trebled since the 1970s is a lie?

Do you have any evidence to support this claim, it's quite sensational - the conspiracy must run deep!

I suppose the increased taxation on dividends is all a lie too. Silly me.

Why didn't they meet 2016 target if raising so much in taxation? Everyone meant to be in work apparently.

Because meeting the targets rely on a lot more than just generating money from income tax...

Also, everyone is not 'meant to be in work'. We have very low (and continually decreasing) unemployment figures, but that doesn't mean that everyone is in work. Far far from it.

If you can offer good reason why UK still running a deficit with all this tax collected off rich let us know.

Ok. What do you reckon the total tax rate including stealth tax is for low earners? As a percentage.

It effects low to middle earners disproportionately. 80% of petrol pump is tax.

Not hard to work out a high % of earnings lost in tax.

I can not only give you a good reason, but I can give you the reason.

We typically spend more than we take in. Should the government spend less?

That doesn't answer the question. What do you reckon the total percentage is including stealth tax, and what do you consider high tax?

Right. So why are the government not taking enough in?

Tax breaks. They simply don't tax wealth enough.

I'll leave you to Google it or work out.

I don't need to work it out.

The lowest earners pay a lower percentage in stealth taxes too.

Do you know what happens when the government starts to punitively tax wealth. France tried it recently. Didn't work out too well.

Example. Council tax up 6% per year, services cut.
