PS: I'm a fan of 'Rebus' too. We like Montalbano as well, both in his young but most preferably older version. Like that BBC4 have brought some alternative foreign detectives to our screens such as: Beck Wallender (original version). But I personally prefer the American detective series. For me it's: Kojak Hill Street Blues NYPD Blue Magnum Edited December 19, 2018 by Baron99 Amendments
kidneystone
It has to be Columbo for me. My second choice would be Law & Order. I still watch them every week even though I've seen each episode several times.

Not too keen on Magnum though, I keep getting distracted by Tom Selleck's body hair that seems to sprout everywhere

tinfoilhat
I very much enjoyed unforgotten on itv, waking the dead was very good too. On the fluffier end of the scale, and a more week in, week out sort of show is castle and the Closer. Cap tip too, to Motive for a different slant on the standard police procedural. Ontarian1981
Any older member remember the detective show that launched Lee Marvin much like Rawhide did for Clint Eastwood? I think it was called M Squad and it wasn't half bad.
