HelenBry
Could anyone tell me if the flats at Fulwood now named Stumperlowe Mansions, used to be a hospital or institute of any description. Thanks
simonj
I lived very near Stumperlowe Mansions in my childhood and even had a paper round that covered them. My recollection of them goes back to the mid 60's and as far as I am aware they have always been flats. I'm interested in why you asked the question though. SHsheff
Yes, me too. They look like purpose-built apartments to me.

kareen
My mother and father met at Stumperlowe Mansions in 1938. He was the head porter and she was an assistant cook. According to my late mother, the flats were built by Ellis Pearson and furnished by Cole Brothers. They were luxury flats one of which was occupied by the American consul. There was a restaurant on the site for the residents.

kareen
Thanks for that - I presume from your location that you are a resident! Karen
