They would still make commitments to get themselves elected but would pick some they thought they could handle and work harder at doing what they promised.

 

In other words    they would stop telling lies on their manifesto    objective achieved.

their punishment is they don't get voted for next time. They already do the wishy washy pledges in case you hadn't noticed, making them legally obligated is a silly idea.
