Climate Change thread

With limited time remaining for life as we know it, it is important that we keep a weather eye open for the imminent catastrophic man made global warming.

Here's the  latest monthly (July) observations from NASA and NOAA's 44 year satellite record:

Except, it isn't... it is a graph of the the dataset produced by Dr.Roy Spencer, of the The University of Alabama Huntsville, based on his interpretation model of microwave sounding data.

It is not from the NASA, or NOAA website... it still shows the warming is real, and the rate of warming is increasing. 🙄

For the record:

"Roy W. Spencer received his Ph.D. in meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Before becoming a Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2001, he was a Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where he and Dr. John Christy received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for their global temperature monitoring work with satellites. Dr. Spencer’s work with NASA continues as the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite. He has provided congressional testimony several times on the subject of global warming.

Dr. Spencer’s research has been entirely supported by U.S. government agencies: NASA, NOAA, and DOE. He has never been asked by any oil company to perform any kind of service. Not even Exxon-Mobil.

Dr. Spencer’s first popular book on global warming, Climate Confusion (Encounter Books), is now available at Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com."

UAH is a long time partner and collaborator with NASA, in the research and study of the Earth's atmosphere.

Dr. Spencer merely takes the raw data from NOAA's spreadsheet and puts it in chart form. The raw data can easily be verified here:

University of Alabama in Huntsville
Office for Operational Excellence - NASA

"Since its inception, the University of Alabama in Huntsville has provided research, science and engineering for NASA and America's space program. The Office for Operational Excellence, located in Von Braun Research Hall, continues that legacy by supporting NASA and the aerospace industry through supply chain management and industrial base sustainment support in the aerospace supply chain".

Newswise
Two UAH scientists play major roles in NASA's Phase II ...

"Two University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) space scientists who are research directors in a heliophysics DRIVE Science Center at Boston University (BU) in which UAH is a partner had significant roles developing a proposal that resulted in a five-year, $15 million Phase II NASA grant".

UAH collaboration with NASA has ‘changed the textbooks’

"If it weren’t for the unique and decades-long collaboration between NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) and The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), Dr. Michael Brigg’s research might not ever have gotten off the ground".

The data and chart is self explanatory.

It shows a warming anomaly since 1979 of 0.64 degrees.

For the record:

... a lot of waffle to highlight, as per your link, that my claim is correct.

The data comes from Dr Roy's own model, and is generated at the UAH.

Dr.Roy rose to public attention in the mid-1990s when he reportedly showed that the atmosphere was not warming and was actually cooling. It turns out he had made some pretty significant errors and when other researchers identified those errors, the new results showed a warming. :?

He's most famously known for getting it completely, and very publicly, wrong:

LOL  The climate change deniers' darling; the bloke who published a paper so terrible that not only was it retracted but the editor of the journal resigned:

Quote

The staggering news today is that the editor of the journal that published the paper has just resigned, with a blistering editorial calling the Spencer and Braswell paper "fundamentally flawed," with both "fundamental methodological errors" and "false claims." That editor, Professor Wolfgang Wagner of the Vienna University of Technology in Austria, is a leading international expert in the field of remote sensing. In announcing his resignation, Professor Wagner says "With this step I would also like to personally protest against how the authors and like-minded climate sceptics have much exaggerated the paper’s conclusions in public statements."

And plenty more where that came from, a few years later:

More errors identified in contrarian climate scientists' temperature estimates: A new study suggests there are remaining biases in the oft-corrected University of Alabama at Huntsville atmospheric temperature estimates

Quote

Perhaps the darlings of the denialist community are two researchers out of Alabama (John Christy and Roy Spencer). They rose to public attention in the mid-1990s when they reportedly showed that the atmosphere was not warming and was actually cooling. It turns out they had made some pretty significant errors and when other researchers identified those errors, the new results showed a warming.

Maybe she's finally got a job.

She might be getting fed up of the police dragging her away in different European countries,  not before time to.   I do wish the Messiah would take her protests to China and Russia.

She seems to have got up your noses a bit    -    sure sign that she's achieving her aims.

She want's publicity and you're still fools enough to keep discussing her and giving her what she wants.

For a kid,  she's pretty good at outwitting  supposedly grown ups.

And yet here you are giving it more exposure.

That makes sense  because I'm on her side.

You don't realise which side you're on and act accordingly.
