Sheffield's day time temperatures back in double figures by next week & no frosts predicted.  As they say, climate change results in milder & wetter winters.

I'd sell your sledge if I were you.

Not hot enough for me the moment. Or in fact since about September.

I find this cold (and dark) so effin' depressing, I NEED to be in Tenerife for my mental health, and I am not kidding.

Now, I seem to remember @Prettytom stating he had a lot of sympathy for people with poor mental health, so how does he square that with wanting to stop me flying out to Tenerife every January (which we cannot actually justify at the moment because our lad is still at school, but once he leaves, off we will go) ?

Sheffield mean monthly temperatures

https://www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/Averages/MONTHLYAIRAVERAGE.htm

January when over 6.0 degrees since 1980

1983 - 6.2

1989 - 6.3

1990 - 6.3

2000 - 6.0

2005 - 6.1

2007 - 6.4

2020 - 6.4

Out of interest

2021 was 2.8

2022 was 5.2

2023 was 5.3

That means absolutely nothing.

It's not Sheffield affecting the climate as such,  it's the melting of the polar ice caps, the glaciers and the Tundra.

Less ice to reflect the sun,  more land to absorb the heat,  rising sea levels  and much more moisture held in the air.

You know so little about it that you would be better not to comment.

At least,  do some research , so that you know what you are talking about.

This may come as a surprise to you but no one gives a crap about what you do.

These are selected weather records for one point somewhere in Sheffield for one month.

A month of weather data averaged out is going to be affected by the slow movement of the jet stream as its position moves, resulting in dominating weather systems.

Using  ALL the seasonal and annual data gives a better picture

What climatologists study is broader trends

We can measure just about everything these days in ever more complicated detail, so we tie ourselves in knots with more and more existential angst.

We think we know it all, but we have no real understanding of the system as a whole over eons.

When I was a kid we had some really bad cold winters and the weather was appalling. Everyone was worried we might be heading into another ice-age, (which is long overdue.)

Now, maybe Global warming is  counteracting that problem. Who's to know?
