It's always fallen massively short, but since trump has binned it, it's pretty much pointless.

Problem is that it's a steady drip effect. Hurricane flattens a big chunk of the Caribbean - donate a tenner. Worried about plastic in the oceans? Buy a wristband. I think to see any kind of change, you need a proper global event that kills alot of people and by people I mean western people. Bangladesh could be completely washed away and it won't spur much action in the US or here for that matter apart from an advert where an erstwhile tom Hiddleston asks you for another tenner.

Nothing else will do it Im afraid.

Sadly, I fear you are probably right.

Elsewhere on the forum I have pointed out that students 'face decades of debt', that 'our children cannot hope to buy a house', and that 'we have delivered the young into the hands of the loan-mongers and landlords'. Of course such points are of no consequence whatsoever if we leave our children with nothing to breathe.

Are you ignoring the message or just using somebody's wealth to have a pop at them? And if it's the latter, why do you give the likes of rees mogg a free ride?

Because to the likes of some in the Telegraph and the Spectator, to be middle or upper class and not even be socialist, but to have a sense of social justice is to be a 'traitor to your class'.  Sadly they've swallowed the myth - hook, line and sinker that to be a 'proper' socialist you have to be poor. Though of course on those occasions when the poor do speak out against the rich, they do so because they are 'jealous' and indulging in the 'politics of envy', or being 'class warriors'.

I've no problem with the rich owners of the Telegraph and the like pursuing this line - of course if I were rich I wouldn't want those with power and wealth speaking out about the unfairnesses of the system. What does make me laugh is people usually at the bottom of the pile simply parroting the line that if your wealthy then it is the height of inconsistency to care about inequality or the environment - as if the two are mutually exclusive

Unfortunately climate change is a world issue, and when did they ever agree on anything?

World leaders gather together at places like Davos to discuss, but there are too many conflicting interests.

Usually making money is at the expense of the planet, and the money making team wins everytime. Sure, treaties are signed etc etc etc, but are they properly implemented? Are they enough?

Nothing will be done until it affects these money men / powerful decision makers, personally and profoundly. They can raise £600 million in a day for Notre Dame, but can't insist on subsidised building regs, say, for grey water systems, solar panels and turbines on tops of all new buildings, a better public transport system that works well. or electric cars that ordinary people can afford, reduced packaging etc etc..... it's not rocket science, but it does need investment in infrastructure and a will to make the changes.

Global warming and climate change is inevitable, we have done so much damage to our planet and it will only get worse.

We talk, and talk and talk and very little action is taken, because not enough people care about our planet, too many people in power just care about money, their greed and own life style.

Donald Trump is a good example...

It's only when catastrophic events take place and millions of people are being killed! When infrastructure, land and valuable assets are being lost! That's when those in power will start to act.

Protesters need to target those in power and the people powerful positions..

We need to start boycotting more companies..

We need to persist day after day after day and never let this protest end.

Our children and children of the future deserve to live a life on a planet that isn't going to kill them prematurely.
