paula4sheff
'Licence under review' apparently. Not sure what that means - but I would imagine it will be closed for a little while, then reopen with enhanced security measures in a similar way to other places in Sheffield that have had incidents. Josh 94
Reopens tomorrow (Weds 12th). That was quick, would have expected a few weeks closed at least.
Cyclone
Because before 2010 no-one was stabbed. Strangely enough before 2010 a lot less people were stabbed!
MrRobot
If numbers of police have no bearing on crime perhaps we could get rid of them altogether. It's been a problem since 1990's...and from 2011 to 2013 it reduced...Not enough resources with or without the 20,000 missing officers. You can't search every single person even if there was an extra 50,000 police officers. People will do bad things and always have done. You need to deal with the root cause of it to tackle the problem/s. Adding more police will make you feel safer but won't stop knife crime. License meetings are important, and can be arranged quick, if everythings agreed easily and quickly during it, they dont have an issue to keep it closed longer

So what do you attribute the rise in knife crime to then, if the cuts in police funding have no bearing on the matter? Pure coincidence that they coincide? Social media, increase in drug use, also the type of knife user has changed, gone are the days where it was almost all gang related, now your average kid might be carrying one, but to say that the cuts in police has no bearing is insane. You’re absolutely right. It’s correct that other factors contribute to knife crime but saying reducing police has no impact is just daft. For me local policing is what’s needed - not just responsive stuff - but proactive policing from local policemen/women based in a local police station. On the beat and amongst the community. Which funnily enough we used to have before the police force was reduced and all the little cop shops got sold into the private sector.
