sheffbag
im very aware of what Drop is (having DJ'd at the Corp myself) The Bass-line quote is attributed to the statement by the police. anyone can google what night is on. Unless anyone on here was there in th eroom no one knows which room it happened in or where the issue first arose. But the main likelihood that the environment within the second room would be different to the other rooms. You aren't going to get your wannabe brap brapers checking out Longpigs or B*Witched when they can be standing around pretending to be grown ups to Skepta. Im sure youve written to the detective who has said it was at a bassline event to correct him. The music doesnt matter in the end, some tosser thought he was a hard man taking a knife into a public place and then used it. Hopefully he will get the book thrown at him but no doubt some do-gooder will cry mental issues and he will get away with it

Hopefully he will get the book thrown at him but no doubt some do-gooder will cry mental issues and he will get away with it As you say - who knows where the stabbing occurred, but I do think it's pretty unacceptable that the police are happy to state it was a "bassline event" in an official statement, when it wasn't. It's not true - and suggests to others that a bassline event is something that attracts trouble and should be avoided. EDIT- Seems Corporation is also angry about the event being called a 'bassline night'....and suggests that The Star's police quote isn't actually an official police one. Here's a full statement from Corporation: The Sheffield Star is seemingly striking its own course when it comes both to reporting, and also the Licensing Objectives. A course that seems diametrically opposed to both the core objectives and the definition of journalism. They employ implication, embellishment and fabrication to create their own hysterical image. However, just in case we are incorrect and they just simply got it wrong again, here are just a few corrections following their reporting of Monday Nights (10.09) incident: 1. Your eye witness who stated “panic erupted as the venue was cleared” was neither “eye” nor “witness”. The entire venue staff were present during the clearing of the club and the staff did this, as they do at the end of every night in an orderly fashion. The customers present left (as they do at the end of every night here) in the best orderly fashion they can muster. Perhaps your “eye witness” was somewhere else and not even at the venue at all. 2. The Star journalist also ascertained from a Detective that on Monday 10th Sept we were hosting a “bassline event”. We would like to state now. Monday is NOT a Bassline event and never has been. Handy again that your information is from a nefarious source. Did it not cross your mind to check with either the club or someone who would frequent the venue what the music policy is at Monday Corp? Obviously not. For the avoidance of doubt our music policy at Monday Corp is: Pop Mixes, Mashups, Dance, Urban, Grime, Hip Hop, Alternative, Pop Punk & Indie Rock. And if you need to check this, just take a minute and go online and perhaps conduct a spot of investigative journalism. 3. The Star journalist stated that SYP “officers were working with the club’s managers and a review is currently underway with its Licensing Officers”. Now at this point we take our hat off to your journalist as he manages to imply that the club is having its license reviewed when in actual fact we are NOT. Both ourselves and the police reviewed the incident the following morning, not the license. Quite an obvious thing to do don’t you think? We would like to thank The Star for their wholly inaccurate reporting during this difficult time. We use the word reporting in its broadest sense as this does rather imply they actually did any. Reporting by it’s very definition would imply at the very least they turned up to the scene and talked with people there. The Star, in journalistic desperation have done no more than whip up public hysteria at a time when knife crime is increasing across the country. Corporation.
