willman
The cake shop legal fees were picked up by a Christian charity / lobby group. They will prob get some bad press now The complainant was a gay rights activist so i bet he isn't paying his own costs either.

Nope - the Equalities Comission for NI contributed to his bill using taxpayers money https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-45789759
Jomie
Does anyone know why Lee wanted a cake with this slogan on it? It’s very odd - what kind of event would require such a thing? The man is an activist and the case has all the hallmarks of entrapment. Thank goodness justice and common sense has prevailed. Lee and the Equalities bods should be hanging their heads in shame at wasting tax payers’ money.

Guest makapaka
What a terible waste of money when we've got families using food banks. Outrageous.
alchresearch
I don't know why the gay customers didn't just do what everyone else does when there's poor service - run home and complain on Tripadvisor, Facebook and Twitter.
hauxwell
I agree with makapaka, what a waste of money. It could have gone to good causes. The only winners is the solicitors.

He could have agreed to have the cake with no slogan and then added the slogan afterwards. The amount of legals fees both sides have had to pay is outrageous. I agree with your sentiment. The troublemaker had nothing to lose while the innocent couple had potentially everything to lose. The taxpayer suffer even more, if the troublemakers backers, have to pay the legal expenses incurred by the backers of the innocent couple.
