The Royal Family Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

The purpose of the crown estate was to remove from the ownership of the monarch, all those properties that belong to the crown and not the monarch.  And since we are a titular monarchy, the crown IS the state.  But since we are also a functional democracy, the state is ruled by parliament on behalf of the crown.

QED the crown estate belongs to the state.

Does anyone disagree to Harry and Meghan going private for their son Archies Christening.

Does any one care or give a hoot. They have no effect on our lives, apart from taking a little brass off us.

And when it doesn't - they don't have to be! Not exactly a 'reasoned' argument for a reply, but I'll let it go as I didn't really expect one.

You also forget that, like a lot of things, times change, and the younger members of the Royal family appreciate this, and don't want to force themselves and their private lives down our throat.

They cant win tho can they?

A big  televised affair and theyd be slated.
A small private affair and theyd be slated.

As for 'a little brass off us',  it was 69p per taxpayer for the year 2017-2018.
