Russia and interpol

Recommended Posts

From BBC news:

Alexander Prokopchuk has had a long career in Russia's interior ministry and was made a major general of the police in 2011.

The clear favourite to win Wednesday's vote, he is one of four current vice presidents of Interpol, and was nominated to the role by Russia two years ago.

Critics are opposed to his candidacy, arguing that Russia has misused Interpol as a means to pursue its critics by using unjust international arrest warrants, or Red Notices.

There's been plenty written about the mafia like nature of the Russian State  whilst under the direction of Putin.

Interpol is a vehicle for international cooperation in fighting crime, and not a vehicle through which vendettass  may be waged against alleged enemies of the Russian State.
