Tradescanthia
The steam coming out of the brewery at Ladies Bridge, lovely. The smoky, acrid haze in the iron foundry at the end of the day. Chimney smoke from the coal fires, comforting. The smell of ground coffee drifting out of Davys Cafe. The smell of the bakery near Beulah Rd and Penistone Rd, always made you feel hungry. Steam trains in Sheffield Station, never forgotten. The list must be endless......

gularscute
The smell of speedway bike fuel- Good- No, I'm not a huffer, I'm talking about the aroma at the side of the track! Simpkins sweet factory- Sickly but sweet and nostalgic Fletchers bakery- Good but smells like a giant doughnut baited Homer Simpson trap. Damons- Unspeakably vile, smells like burnt offerings. sweetdexter
Smells and taste bring back instant memories. I used to live on Dutton Rd (now the sight of the Leisure centre). There used to be a small shop, virtually the front room of a 2 up 2 down terrace house. The pervading smell was bundles if kindling wood, malt vinegar and paraffin. I have been in Canada for over 40 years and miss the real ale that was taken for granted before 1960. On a visit to Kingston Ontario in about 1990 I went to a local pub that brewed it own beer. They had one hand pump. The guy who brewed the beer was from Harrogate. When I Had the first mouthful ,instant Ecstasy .just like beer used to be. I can read a book and sometimes if I am locked in with the author I can smell the places described

sweetdexter
Hendersons Relish factory, have walked past at least twice a week for the past 3 years I am surprised there are not people camped out at Hendersons. From what I perceive I think they are putting addictive substances in the relish :-)
GrinderBloke
The smell of oil and rubber, of old buses* slowing crawling up any of Sheffields steeper hills. The smell of long hot summers long gone. * by old I am thinking of the old type buses with the entrance at the rear.
