Recycle for money?

Recommended Posts

I have in the past weighed in aluminium cans, metal and car batteries.

Perhaps you have a local weigh-in metal facility?

The scrap vans that drive around seem to, on occasion, steal items from peoples gardens, perhaps a better solution is for individuals or groups of people to come together a get money for your waste.

It could be a project to raise money for a local project, for personal profit or to help people reduce their carbon footprint.

Here are some common options and how to recycle them.
  • Scrap metal. Scrap metal is one of the more profitable materials to recycle. ...
  • Bottles, cans and milk bottle tops
  • Car batteries. ...
  • Ink cartridges. ...
  • Electronics. ...
  • Quirky recyclables

We have an old gent in the village (strangely he's always appeared old) who still collects aluminium tins walking the streets with his carrier bag. He started doing it when the recycle cabins opened at Crystal Peaks some 20 years ago probably.

The Americans get a small amount for cans and stuff don't they??

The Germans also operate a system where glass bottles pay back a small amount when returned to a retailer.

Have you ever thanked him for keeping the streets clean?
