Mister M
Diseases long associated with the Victorian era are back with a vengeance. Whooping cough, Scarlett fever, and gout have risen by 52% since 2010. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/feb/02/dickensian-diseases-gout-whooping-cough-and-scarlet-fever-on-rise A previous study, from 3 years ago, showed gout and malnutrition is on the rise https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/nhs/11957589/Gout-and-malnutrition-levels-soaring-as-Victorian-disease-return.html All we now is the return of scurvy, typhoid and dysentery, then Jacob Rees Mogg will feel right at home. Maggi Thatcher once lovingly spoke of a return to 'Victorian values', pity we have been bequeathed its diseases Edited February 2, 2019 by Mister M
woodview
Click bait. Whooping cough is covered by infant routine vaccinations. No excuse for not getting them. Gout caused by excessive consumption of meat, beer and being overweight.

It doesn't help by overeating, but that in itself doesn't make someone concentrate uric acid in their blood, just like both of the people I know who have kidney stones are young, slim and vegetarian, yet kidney stones are also linked to overeating and drinking. I agree entirely though- if you've ever actually seen a baby with whooping cough, or a child with brain damage from measles, you have no doubt that vaccinating is the way to prevent the horrors from them.
