Is Comic Relief racist?

Recommended Posts

I've just looked at Comic Relief on Instagram and it is shocking. Virtually every post is of wealthy white middle class celebrities promoting themselves for a fashionable cause - white saviours treating Africans as their cute little pets.

Its very disturbing. Forget the Africans, its ALL about the white celebrities.

Yeah, it would be much better to scrap it. Let's keep the millions raised each year in Britain instead. That'll show 'em.

It depends how desperate your situation is.  If someone was going to give me money to improve my standard of life,  I don’t think I would mind being their cute little pet.

luckily I'v never contributed to any of these charities so cannot be accused of racism.

Same here. You can't be sure with any charity what is being siphoned off.  The ones I like are the ones where you can donate other things but money. I'e,  giving toys to The Hallam charity at Christmas.  I know somebody could take toys out of the box but at least it's not money.

Oh  my goodness.

This is a slug fest for the haters.

Slag off the politically correct crew.

Slag off the do gooders.

It seems to me that they have sided with the Politically correct crew.  Was that to avoid giving? Be careful of the friends you choose?

Maybe if 'The Africans' looked after their own, the white westerners wouldn't have to get involved.

What's your suggestion?

Let's stop all of the racist foreign aid and leave the poor countries to sort it out for themselves.

I used to be left-leaning and thought that helping those less well-off was a good thing. But now that the left appear to think that everything is racist, sexist and misogynistic, i can no longer promote and identify with their ideals.

I don't see Lammy helping his people... i bet he's just happy to leave it up to God as it takes the blame away from him.

It's almost like it's a perfect example of the politically correct becoming a parody of itself, tying itself in knots. No wonder it's attracting attention from "haters".

Wealthy white celebrities such as Stacey Dooley, who cuddles African children once a year for social media, is perpetuating the negative stereotype of helpless black natives being saved by the white colonial masters.

“Kindness, as far as its ordinary meaning is concerned, is free and anonymous. If it can't be free and silent, it is not kindness; it is something else. Blackmail is the closest it becomes”.

Former President of Malawi, Honorable Joyce Banda.
