Let me make this perfectly clear - any personal attacks will get you a suspension. The moderating team is not going to continually issue warnings. If you cannot remain civil and post within forum rules then do not bother to contribute.

So to state that Argentina tried to annex a bit of Britain is laughably wrong in every sense.

Indeed, the central irony being that in that analogy the UK, being poorly prepared and significantly smaller, is playing the role of Argentina :?

It is a good analogy for how stuff that is largely about trying to divert from government incompetance quickly goes pear shaped though...

... now that *really* does sound like Brexit :hihi:

You have to be specific and correct if you are going to make statements like that. Do you actually know what constitutes “Britain”? Even school children should know this. Our country is called The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Britain actually represents England and Wales only. Scotland makes it “Great Britain”. The Northern Ireland bit represents what it is.

The Falkland Islands have never been a part of Britain. It is a British overseas territory and nothing more or less.

So to state that Argentina tried to annex a bit of Britain is laughably wrong in every sense.

You would have thought Leavers banging on about sovereignty would know basic history and what their own country actually is.

Neither has the EU but or soldiers died for it.

Quite! The point, as TCH mentioned, was that with Brexit reducing our global influence... they might have to again! :suspect:

Let's assume that with the reduced economy and inevitable corresponding reduction in the size of our armed forces... we'll still be able :?

Instead of paying for a EU army perhaps we'd be better paying for our own, the Spanish seem to be getting stroppy again, and the frogs think they can please themselves on fishing.

So you advocate settling our differences with France and Spain with our military might.

Pretty much sums up why we needed the EU,and how some fail to learn any lessons from recent history.

What are we going to pay with?

The Rate that the pound is dropping, we’ll be hard pressed to be able to afford a couple of rubber dinghies and some air rifles.

Declaring war on France and Spain is an hilarious idea. You should suggest it for the next UKIP manifesto

A salient example of what happens when you're not properly prepared! Sounds a lot like Brexit :?

Thatcher was well prepared.Lord Carrington had intelligence about the Falklands invasion long before it happened. It was the best thing that could have happened for Thatcher and her government, they were licking their chops at the very thought of it. Her ratings were at an all time low before the invasion and at an all time high after the intervention of British troops.
