Google Maps is your friend.

Torrevieja is nearest to Murcia and Valencia which both have airports, but I wouldn't recommend a taxi from Valencia Airport to there. I did it once by accident and it cost me over £200! 😱

Most people I know buy nearer to Nerja, Torremolinos or Fuengirola as they are all well served from Malaga or at a push, Gibraltar.

Hello Craig,

The area's you have mentioned are not far from the airport, Urb La Marina is about 20 minutes from Alicante airport. Torrevieja about 30minutes. A taxi is around 50 euro one way, you can also catch the  bus to Torrevieja for about 8 euro. The bus goes through La Marina village every hour  so you could get a taxi from there to the Urb which would be around 5 euro's. Urb La Marina has many supermarkets and restaurants all in walking distance so no need to drive there is a bus that runs in the summer to the beach and back for a couple euro. Try looking on the Costa Blanca forums or Torrevieja forum for more info. Hope this helps. Alan.

My parents had a place in Guardamar. They sold up a year or two after having their place about twelve years. They became disillusioned with the Spanish and all the taxes on the tourists. Its cheaper for food etc in Bulgaria. We can be door to door from Doncaster airport to our apartment in Sveti (St) Vlas. We fly to Bourgas airport in Bulgaria in eight hours. Airport transfer by taxi is cheap if you don't travel more than 30 mins from airport in Bulgaria. There are some nice resorts between Bourgas and the other airpot on the coast. I can see Top cat has just quoted as Im editing.

That is true but the downside is that outside Sofia, Burgas and Varna, most of Bulgaria is a medieval **** hole!

Well it shows you don't have a clue! Sunny Beach is not to my taste but a lot of Brits love it. Sveti Vlas has a world class Marina and some very upmarket property and holiday makers. We are technically outside Vlas but its still referred to as Vlas rather than Elenite. The rich Bulgarians and other Eastern Europeans, film stars etc holiday here (Vlas and Elenite).  You should see some of the cars they drive.

It has been modernised over the last fourteen years but not spoilt. In my opinion Sunny Beach has been spoilt.

The food , wine and property are all cheaper in Bulgaria and as for St Vlas it it a lovely little  layed  back village where the old sit in the square and watch the world go by as they do in Spain.

The harbour where you are talking about practically  belongs to the rich Russians, wow some of those boats  and property around there have to be viewed on a sunny day.

I wouldn't  call that a ---- hole, there's  a lot of money going on down there.

I agree jaffa! The locals always talk about the Denevi  family who own most of Vlas. I thought they were Bulgarian but I could be wrong. There is a resort for all tastes along that stretch of the black sea coast. If you don't mind it being commercialised and like Blackpool as I remember it in the 1970s then Sunnybeach is a cheap resort simply because there are so many properties for sale. Its got a good bus service for exploring by public transport. The food is a little less authentic and a little more multicultural / fast food in Sunnybeach and oddly enough not as cheap as Vlas. The season is a little longer in Sunny beach too. You can get studios quite cheap if you are prepared to walk to the beach.

Holiday and Orchid Fort Fort Gold Club are right nect to the aquapark on the edge of Sunny Beach. Its popular with Brits. There is a Facebook group.  There are a few resales here in ythe O.Ps price range: https://www.fortnoks.org/holiday-orchid-fort-golf-club/

We usually allow £50 per day for spending money for two adults but this includes all transport including airport transfers and a taxi in to town and back each night. We are self catering but eat out every night, not always at cheap places. We would spend less if we drank beer instead of wine. Families we know with two or three kids spend the same because they don't take their kids to expensive restaurants.

I'm only suggesting this area because the op may not be aware of it and wanted easy transport and didn't want to drive.

Think it was "A place in the sun" I was watching said distress sales in Spain were now pretty much a thing of the past. Can you really get something for £40k?
