Dozer
If you worry about the effects of a cashless society, you can sign the Consumer Association's Freedom To Pay petition.
redruby
I’m not completely averse to card payments but I do find that I’m more aware of my spending if I pay using cash. Somehow handing over cash feels more significant that paying by card, especially contactless so my preference is to pay with cash for day to day spending but I’ll generally use a card for large purchases (and for small ones if paying cash isn’t an option). Fudbeer
Was reading an article about Norway where less than 10% of transactions are cash and they reckon it could disappear in a decade.Like it or not cashless society is coming!

Fudbeer
Have to say on nights out round town now I tend not to take much cash nearly everyone takes cards and you don't end up with loads of change in your pocket.Less likely to get mugged too. Pun intended Most card services providers now work on % per transaction rather than a fixed fee.
ECCOnoob
No. But they do have eyes and will see drunk and wobbly people opening their wallets, purses and pockets with wads of notes when they are paying for a drink or trying to buy some kebab. They will see people at the cashpoint at the start of the night taking out a big chunk of money. Now, if those same muggers see a person doing nothing but carrying around a piece of plastic and paying for everything with that - it's not beyond the realms of reality that they simply won't target them for an attack.
