Time to quit Eurovision?

Recommended Posts

Who cares?

This was never a serious song competition even in the days when the UK and Ireland were winning every year.

It is a high camp entertainment extravaganza that is watched by millions every year. We are no more entitled to win it than any of the 40 other countries who entered.

Get a grip folks! 🙄

I haven’t watched the programme yet so I can’t say what I think of our entry.

Some say it’s political because we are always at or near the bottom of the competition, I’m not sure what to think about that, but if it is all the more reason to enter. We might send an exceptionally outstanding good singer one year and the judges might forget their political views.

We have won the competition a few times and come second on a number of occasions so have we just become complacent and took it for granted that we should automatically come in the top five even if our entry is rubbish.

Nothing to do with the fact that our entry was mediocre at best and just down right rubbish to be brutally honest.  There is far more support in other countries than ours, so it is not surprising.

We could have warmed up John Lennon and George Harrison and put the Beatles up and we'd have still got nil pois.

Its time Britain stopped being a major financial contributor to Eurovision.

Why?   Its not set up as more cash = more votes.

Win or Lose is fantastic entertainment which generates millions and millions of viewers.    An estimate 7m + in the UK alone.

Our 1:42 contribution share the Eurovision 2019 budget is pocket change compared to the average production cost of some dullard game show or hyped up 'talent' search.

And spend the money on what?  More benefits or welfare?  Still money down the drain, so what is different?

Cliff Richard and Sandie Shaw won, many moons ago. Not saying either was a great song though.  Lol.

Cliff Richard never won the Eurovision song contest but he did come second.
