Mister M
It's not the teaching of sexuality per se, but the existence of different family structures. This is encompassed by the Government's desire to teach what they call 'British Values' (tolerance, compassion, rule of law etc). The 'state' doesn't need to teach about straight sexuality or relationships or family structures. They're ubiquitous. It's simply teaching, in an age appropriate way, the facts of life. Simple as that. Edited June 9, 2019 by Mister M

Anything that can be done to prevent these sort of attacks should be done.

I wonder if as a child you felt yourself attracted to a member of the same sex but was constantly told that if you ever had such thoughts then your head would explode and you were consequently so frightened, isolated and ashamed that you were thinking of taking your own life, whether you would feel the way you do.
