Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Message added by Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

The point is that it does not matter which side they are on as the wealthy will always have financial advisers who will advise them how to capitalise on brexit and make money from it.

Yes - but it would appear a number of them are trying (and seemingly succeeding) in influencing Johnson and his cronies to crash out with no deal in order to line their own pockets.

Hammond wrote: “Boris Johnson asserts, ever more boldly, that we will leave the EU with or without a deal. But as his sister has reminded us, he is backed by speculators who have bet billions on a hard Brexit – and there is only one outcome that works for them: a crash-out no-deal Brexit that sends the currency tumbling and inflation soaring.”

For information "Hammond" was Chancellor of the Exchequer until very recently - not the gerbil who appeared on Top Gear.

Actually she never said such a thing, its just that Hammond is just peed off because he had the whip removed so now engages on attacks on Johnson. I think his life as an MP is now over.

But... Johnson's sister was asked on BBC's Radio 4's World at one... "who could be behind the strategy to deliver Brexit in any shape or form."

She replied:

"It could be Dominic Cummings advising the prime minister to be extremely aggressive and to face down opposition from all sides of the establishment in order to secure his position as the tribune of the people. It could be coming from my brother himself, he obviously thoroughly enjoys being prime minister. It could be from – who knows – people who have invested billions in shorting the pound or shorting the country in the expectation of a no-deal Brexit. We don't know."

Notice the last sentence!

Hammond realises that he's finished as an MP. He had the second most powerful post in the cabinet - he will have known what was going on - the Treasury has ears in most departments.

So he can be a tad more candid 😎

True but making out that Johnson's sister made remarks when she didn't just to make a point puts him in a very dim light and someone not to be trusted. It seems that is all he is basing his rant on.

Hammond said that she had said that Bozo was backed by speculators and she also said that he was backed by speculators but didn’t know who in particular  was behind the push for a no deal Brexit.

No - he was quite clever - remember he said "his sister has reminded us". He'd have a pretty good idea who had placed the bets and their relationship to Johnson.

Oh btw - ranting is what Johnson does  at Cummings beck and call - Hammond chose his words much more carefully.

Yet when Bozo lies (the £350 million big red bus lie), Farage lies (the ‘Breaking Point’ poster) and Priti Patel and Penny Mordaunt lie (numerous radio and TV interviews when they were allowed to say that Turkey was about to join the EU) you think that they can be trusted?

Not just Spreadsheet Phil saying hedge funds stand to make a killing on no deal.

Finally after three and a half years there is starting to be some discussion about what is really behind what I’ve been calling ‘Project Brexit’.

Maybe when people start to realise that they have been mugged off as part of someone else’s grand ‘get rich quick’ scheme, they may feel less inclined to bleat on about how their democratic wishes are being trampled on.
