Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Message added by Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

You were not at last weeks meeting between the UK negotiators and EU officials so you have no idea how practical any alternatives to the Backstop discussed are.

There are no practical alternatives to the backstop.

If there were we would have heard about them by now. When this nonsense was first proposed, it was pointed out that you can’t have an open border between two countries with different tariffs.

That hasn’t changed.

You seem to have missed my post from yesterday that shows even the government's own analysis of their proposed alternatives concludes that none of them will work.

He can't call a GE off his own bat - either he has to lose a vote no confidence or 2/3 rds of MP's have to want an early election.

Perhaps he'll propose a vote of no confidence in himself 😎

Or the cabinet just goes on strike to force no-deal. Then corbyn would have no choice but to call a no confidence vote.

Boris sent David Frost to Brussels last week to negotiate alternatives to the Backstop with EU officials.  It's been reported the UK negotiating team are going to meet EU officials twice a week in an attempt to get a new deal.  To say Boris hasn't tried to negotiate is not true.

You seem to have forgotten Parliament rejected Theresa May's and Oliver Robbins deal with the EU three times.  You need to think that there are a large number of MPs in Parliament who will not support any deal because they don't want our country to leave the EU which is against the democratic wishes of the people who voted in the 2016 EU referendum.  To rule out no-deal is the same as our country remaining in the EU.

yet leaked cabinet minutes in the news today show senior people describing this "renogiation" as windows dressing for the british public!

Prime Minister Cummings has made no progress in finding alternatives to the backstop.

Prime Minister Cummings is lying and trying to fool the more gullible members of the electorate.

Prime Minister Cummings might as well call the election now and put us all out of our misery.

He’d also be more believable if he didn’t behave like a poundshop Malcolm Tucker.

On top of the brouhaha already created by proroguing Parliament?

I think they might well face riots if the cabinet becomes wilfully obstructive to democratic process.  These same people told us we were taking back control?

I doubt that will phase Cummings. Perusing his blog it's clear his plan is to create utter chaos in order to then pursue his own goals. The question is at what point (if at all....) will the cabinet demand he is removed.

Well lets wait a few days and see if we've even got a cabinet to worry about.

The Daily Mail has seen an updated version of the Yellow Hammer document - EXCLUSIVE: No Deal Brexit could lead to months of chaos, public disorder and food shortages, updated Government dossier reveals. The previous version was dismissed as out of date, this one was supposed to be released by Gove today until it was pulled last night. Nothing much appears to have changed from the last version.

Tory politicians were still dismissing it as ‘Project Fear’ on Politics Live this morning despite these being their own government’s forecasts.

Since Johnson became Prime Minister, UK politics has become very ‘Trumpy’ with the truth no longer having any real relevance. Many government statements now, are mainly directed at gullible people who neither know nor care whether they are being lied to as long as they come with the same tired dog-whistle slogans.
