Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Message added by Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

Rebels or no rebels, he's not going to get a 2/3 majority for an election without agreeing to ask for another extension, which he says he's not prepared to countenance (though of course there's absolutely no reason to believe a word he says).

So if he wants this election, his only other option is to table a motion of no confidence in himself, which I think he probably would be shameless enough to do if he thought he could get it through.  Calling for a motion of confidence in himself (as John Major effectively did in 1993, except that Mr Johnson would want it not to be passed) wouldn't work under the terms of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act.

Another factor is that the government can only be compelled to ask for another extension.  The other EU members are not compelled to grant one.  You'd expect that it would be granted, if only for the sake of Ireland, but there's always the chance of loose cannons like Hungary not agreeing, and as I've mentioned before "Don't Call Me Manu" seems to be prepared to pull the plug.

Last night's vote and the uncertainty of whether there will be a General Election has probably increased the chances of a no-deal exit 31st October.

There will be no General Election without Bozo first going to Brussels to ask for an extension.

He is not trusted and Jeremy Corbyn and the two Scottish ladies know that and they will not facilitate any election where Johnson gets to choose the date.

Indeed. Bojo's narcissim and obsession with being PM means that he'll bit that bitter pill and then ask for an extension. He's no option if he wants to stay in power.

After that then just to rub it in Corbyn wont permit a 2/3 majority vote and will get a no confidence passed and then another GE. I suspect that by the end of the year we could be looking at a lib-lab pact again....
