Consequences Of Brexit [Part 8] Read First Post Before Posting

Message added by Vaati

Mod Note: As we are getting rather tired of seeing reports about this. The use of the word Remoaners  is to cease. Either posts like adults, or don't post at all. The mod warnings have been clear.

In addition to remoaner we are also not going to allow the use of libdums or liebore - if you cannot behave like adults and post without recourse to these childish insults then please refrain from posting. If you have a problem with this then you all know where the helpdesk is.

It’s a crazy bit of leaver unicornery.

They are so desperate to foist this nonsense on all of us that they will sacrifice  the Union and peace in the island of Ireland to get it.

Shameless stuff really.

ah so give NI back to Ireland and have the border in the sea.....and to hell with the loyalists? not sure they will like that.

never understood this down the irish sea border thing??? enlighten me please, surely if the land of Ireland is in the EU, AND NI is still in the UK, then the border is STILL in the middle of both?? not down the side

This is Barniers own word on that:

"In order to avoid the need for such controls at our border, the EU’s proposed backstop would move them to the ports and airports and to entry points to the island of Ireland and elsewhere."

What was stopping that was the DUP and now the majority has been lost and parliament are in charge it could be a possibility.

It was something proposed before and not by me. What it does is stop the need for a border between the North an South of Ireland itself thus keeping in with the spirit of the GFA.

It’s not just the DUP it’s also the crackpot Tories who see Northern Ireland remaining in effectively a customs union with the EU, as a ‘surrender’ Brexit or a ‘sell out’  Brexit.

Here’s a little scenario just say for arguments sake it was France leaving the EU under no circumstances would let parts of their country that borders the EU be kept under EU rules. So why should we with NI ?

Because the scenario is non- existent whereas Brexiteers are wanting to throw the Good Friday agreement under a bus.

Let’s put it another way do you think France would except any part of the country being under EU rules if they had left ? And scenarios are what could happen not what is happening.

Why are you trying to justify throwing the Good Friday agreement under the bus by using things that don't exist?
