wearysmith
The 'Dad's Army' film from 2016 is the perfect example that having an excellent cast means bugger all if the script is poor. On paper it couldn't go wrong. A vast array of quality British thesps (Zeta-Jones, Bill Paterson, Bill Nighy, Mark Gatiss, Sarah Lancashire, Toby Jones, Alison Steadman etc etc) and it goes face down in the mud due to an awful (and unfunny) script. Having loved the prog from when I was in my teens, I was gutted after seeing the revamp. I don't see a follow-up on the horizon...........

For a start they would have had to have the same actors in the film as the ones on telly, but they didn’t and that was where they went wrong. To be fair, the original script writers did set the bar rather high!
