How Brexiters live their truth (badly):

https://www.ft.com/content/e55a3025-6ff2-43d6-8ce2-52f29bc34457

You can only lie to yourself and the rest of the country so long

"The British economy, suffering the worst fall in living standards on record, will be the worst-performing of the G20 economies except Russia this year and next, forecasts the OECD. Britain’s goods exports are the worst in the G7. Foreign investment has fallen since 2016. Despite the Brexiter promise of more money for the NHS, more than one in 10 Britons is now waiting for hospital treatment, the most since records began. Life expectancy for poorer people has fallen.

Some Brexiters have responded by changing their story. Now they say Brexit was never about grubby economics, only about sovereignty, as if voters in 2016 were told, “You’ll be poorer, mind.” It’s also unclear where this whizzo new sovereignty resides. If the UK actually did set its own standards for products and labour, it couldn’t sell the resulting goods to neighbouring countries. It hasn’t yet dared check the vast majority of imports from Europe for fear of even longer border queues and nobody ever seeing a fresh tomato again. As for acting alone in the world, Britain needs France just to stop small boats.

Older Brexiters have learnt that there’s a worse political fate than losing. It’s winning while being wrong."

One company’s bitter experience of Brexit:

"Good luck to those British companies who want to import from the EU when the post-Brexit customs checks start.

In our case, after a recent audit, HM Revenue & Customs has decided to levy an 8 per cent duty on the return of all the lace that we manufacture in the UK, send to France for dyeing, and then get back for further finishing.

This is backdated over two years to when Brexit started.

We have spent more than 200 years building our business, fought for 30 years against the global textile trend of moving to the Far East and have now been killed off by our own side in a couple of years. We all lose."

Read all about it!

Guardian reading, (presumably that's why she ran to the Guardian to vent her spleen?), 'intelligent', Left-wing leaning, middle class teacher blames Brexit for her own stupidity, even though her newspaper of choice highlighted the UK passport issue months ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/apr/29/briton-valid-passport-barred-from-flight-brexit-rules-eu

"I’d been so looking forward to seeing my son – all because a load of w*****s voted for Brexit."

Hilarious 😂   Maybe she should have asked a Brexiteer to explain it to her?

They must be up all night in the editors office trying to find anything negative about the UK.

They are like pathetic children.

Nothing wrong with left wing and it's a big improvement on greedy selfish right wing.

You don't have to stay up 5 minutes to find negative about the UK - It's staring us all in the face.

13 years of Tory right wing rule and the result is that nothing works, we can't afford anything except royal knees ups and the world laughs at us.

Slowest at everything and  worst at everything.  Who needs to stay up all night?

For goodness sake stop being so pessimistic and feeling sorry for yourself.

My family, friends and neighbours have a good life.

What is so bad about your life in reality ?

Try being proud of your country and look for monarchy.
