Seems like a bit of a secret as all the Tories have been in the news condemning it

Do you have any evidence?

https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/car-industry-news/2022/08/31/tfl-and-dft-agree-long-term-funding-deal

"The Government has struck a long-term funding deal with Transport for London.

TfL must achieve the revenue generation proposals promised in February and progress proposals through public consultation, which includes the expansion of the ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) to cover Greater London"

Regardless, under Section 143 of the Greater London Authority Act the government could force Khan to remove the policy if they genuinely want to.

Don't see any sign of that happening... I wonder why? :suspect:

I've read the article and although I'm not wearing my glasses I'm pretty confident that there is nothing in there that states that the Tories demanded the expansion of ULEZ

Also in this interview with I'm sure you won't watch the.Transport Secretary states he didn't have the power to block it

I literally quoted the section highlighting that it was part of the agreed funding settlement from the  government. 🙄

He does have the power, but of course and as he makes clear, if it were challenged in court he'd lose (for obvious reasons)... not quite the same thing. :?

The interviewer looks entirely unconvinced... ironically 🤣

You always contradict yourself

The legislation says he does (as the interviewer in your link makes clear)... but as with everything, there are potential consequences that he's not prepared to take.

These are his excuses, not mine! 🙄

Understandable though, since the implementation of the ULEZ expansion was one of the governments conditions as part of the funding agreement for TfL.

Out of interest, what has any of this, or any of your recent posts in this thread... got to do with Brexit? :suspect:

BBC News - New iPhone, new charger: Apple bends to EU rules
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-66708571

That pesky EU eh, bringing in legislation that will save everyone money and the faff of having to change charger wires when moving between products(!)

Luckily the UK will benefit by default as Apple won't make products just for a UK market and will bundle all of Europe in together.

So it has made no difference in this respect that we voted for Brexit.

Weren't we promised a return to imperial measurments?

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/05/13/post-brexit-plan-to-bring-back-pounds-and-ounces-stalls/

"The return of imperial measurements to Britain is under threat after ministers scaled back plans to abolish European Union rules by the end of the year.

Despite a pledge from Boris Johnson at the last election to restore the “ancient liberty” of using pounds and ounces, an official consultation has found that businesses and voters largely prefer the metric system.

Kemi Badenoch, the Business Secretary, this week announced that she would no longer be completing the “Brexit freedoms” process by the year-end.

Under a system designed by her predecessor, Jacob Rees-Mogg, civil servants were required to find all EU rules on the UK statute books by the end of 2023 and select which ones to retain.

All other measures would be automatically scrapped, according to the Retained EU Law Bill currently under scrutiny in the House of Lords.

But Ms Badenoch said “a new approach was needed” and she decided to cherry-pick the most “meaningful” laws to be revoked.

Her department has published a list of 600 Brussels regulations that will be cancelled at the end of this year.

Not included is the EU rule, passed in 2000, that says the metric system must take precedence in the UK when referring to the weight of products.

It states that while the use of imperial measures as a “supplementary indicator” is permitted, metric units “shall predominate” and must be given in the same or a larger font than imperial measurements.

Plans to reintroduce pounds and ounces have become a totemic issue for Brexiteers since European regulations forced the retirement of pound-bags of sugar and six-ounce jars of jam."

Naturally the Apple products are sized in millimetres.
