Not sure they could have prepared. Leaving the SM and CU is a major restructuring and obviously (as we now are seeing) many businesses are simply unviable outside it. The business was only viable as SM/CU members. There will be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of other SME's in the same boat who're on the verge of pulling the plug... So in the years since the Brexit vote, you think this company really couldn't do anything but close? No forward planning, preparation, extending into different markets, or perhaps even using their existing Spanish distributor (or opening an EU based office themselves) to make life easier? Instead, just close the whole thing down. CBA.
Delbow
Well, we've established that the reason there are unemployed people in the UK is that employers can't be arsed.

Boris said it could be torn up, assuming he wasn't simply lying for populist appeal.... Why have we gone through all this just to impose an additional burden on business? What have we gained? By the way, if you can't answer that one, don't worry, you're not alone.

Delbow
Equally, epidemiologists have been telling us for years that we were well overdue a pandemic, yet it took the Tory government and all businesses by surprise. Years they had, to plan and mitigate, business to work out how they could reposition themselves and adapt to online only, government to plan and prevent 100,000 people dying, but the problem was they just could not be arsed. Absolutely. More evidence of the Golden Uplands...... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55997641 Dunno why they don't just expand into different markets, or prepare, or forward plan or summat. CBA obviously.......
