Seems fair enough working  Mothers have the opportunity to fill vacancies in the post Brexit age.  I believe it was Gordon Brown who used the phrase "British jobs for British workers"

Presumably "working" mothers already have a job! :?

Regardless, the issue isn't about mothers, working or otherwise.

The statement, that it is required at all and to some extent the "mother" reference, gives an indication of just how bad things must be.

More jobs for British workers is a Brexit positive.  There is nothing bad about British workers having the opportunity to work both more hours and having more choices where they can find work.

Again, the significance of the statement eludes you.

It’s the pensioner-to-taxpayer ratio in the UK which is of most significance, and which has been eluding the Leave side since before 2016.

But well, they’d had enough of experts then, and ever since and now still, right?

The UK is believed to have net emigration at the moment i.e. more people leaving the country than arriving. This is a situation, which you would normally expect to witness in a country in a deep recession, not one undergoing an economic revival coming out of Covid.

Some deep socio-economic problems in the making there, not solvable short- or medium-term. There’s no beginning to solve these, until and unless the Brexit theocracy gets shunted aside for pragmatism. Fear not, however: Darwinism  will eventually have its way, as usual.

Heh, there’s no need to court East Europeans back into British social care with sponsored visas (…not that these have had any success with fruit pickers or HGV drivers), if the population of social care recipients gets sufficiently shrunk down out of food, fuel and care poverty, with the occasional helping of herd immunity 😏

UK car production dropped by more than 40% last month to the lowest level recorded for October since 1956.

The pandemic is most likely to be the main why there has been a collapse in schools trips to the UK post Brexit.

No, it hasn't stopped them going to other EU countries as an alternative. It's the new UK passport rules. EU children can no longer travel on group passports and if there are any non-EU students have to get individual visas.
