It seems the French are missing the huge amount of money the British contribute to their economy and are going to allow Brits who have second homes in France to stay longer.

Automatic visa for easy second-home visits passed by French parliament

Law will help tens of thousands of Britons to spend longer in France as they could before Brexit

That’s very good news.

But it’s a bit of a damp squib of a Brexit benefit. There isn’t much to celebrate in the restoration of a right that was removed by Brexit. It’s a good job that the French have been the grown ups in this relationship.

It makes you wonder how many more aspects of pre-Brexit EU life we will look to regain.

Could easily end up back in Europe in all but name.

My guess is that we'll rejoin the Single Market,  but in order to get it through it'll be named something else. The hardline Brexiteers are the type of people who are obsessed with British Exceptionalism. Those days are gone, they went with the end of empire but some like to live in the past, when we could send a gunboat.

Starmer has said that he won't reverse Brexit. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/keir-starmer-eu-labour-brexit-deal-brussels-b2413243.html

Newsflash Keir, that's not in your gift, all 27 EU member states have to agree if we ask to rejoin and Hungary would veto it, because Putin would tell them to.

Putin wanted Brexit because it weakens both the UK and the EU. https://www.csis.org/blogs/brexit-bits-bobs-and-blogs/did-russia-influence-brexit

That worked out fine for Russian interests  and they will continue to interfere with the UK and EU member countries. Putin has an ally in Viktor Orbán and given the amount of money they've sunk into London I'm sure they have influential friends here as well.

It's not like we'll be thinking of rejointing this decade or the next, so I doubt Orban or Putin will still be around to have much of a say.  Putin's lucky to have made it to this Christmas, you have to wonder what coming year will bring.

I wonder how many of the hardline Brexiteers will even survive the next election, some of the driving force havee already gone, Bojo left in complete disgrace, Farage is off fluffing his media career, the Haunted Pencil got booted upstairs to the Lords.

None of them having to suffer in any way for the damage they've done to the country. One rule for them another for hoi polloi.
