Not from promised growth or any of that nonsense that failed to materialise. Simply where is all the money we were saving not paying into the EU coffers? £350 million a week wasn't it? Where is that? That's a huge amount of money. Where has it gone? That’s a good question pal, maybe some of those who were most fervently posting about the financial benefits of leaving the EU could tell us? I’ll start with this one. https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/topic/471637-consequences-of-brexit-part-9-read-first-post-before-posting/page/6/?tab=comments#comment-8325272

It took a huger amount of money to finance dealing with the covid pandemic.

What happened to the 5 pledges ? he knew about Covid when he made the pledges. Only one pledge materialised and it was the B of E who did that by raising interest rates. The Tories are going to spend the rest of their lives blaming Covid and Ukraine.
geared
Christ, it's nearly 2024 and we're still trying to use Covid as an excuse?

I just pointed out the money saved by not contributing to the EU budget has been dwarfed by the money needed to deal with covid. It took 61 years to repay the money borrowed from the USA to finance WW2. Covid has not ended unlike WW2.

It doesn't alter the fact that every Tory promise is always broken and an excuse presented instead to explain the failure. What happened to the 5 pledges which you never want to talk about ? Sunak knew about Covid when he made them You have an excuse for every eventuality and for every broken promise but all we ever get IS FAILURE. Everybody has seen through all your feeble excuses for failure. Edited December 31, 2023 by Organgrinder

And Labour, don't forget them. You could hardly expect a government to sort out the problem that they inherited in 13 years could you? I mean they've had a lot on their plate you know. There have been PPE contracts to sign, it isn't easy to decide which mate ( with no experience in the PPE trade ) you're giving one to while having to disappoint others. Contracts for ferries to a company with no ships. Titles to donors and mates and Russian KGB connected pals. Its been all go at Westminster. We should have a little sympathy.

Prettytom
Anyway. Guest
It should be quite obvious to even the biggest fan of Brexit that Brexit has failed, is costing us money, and is holding back our economic prosperity. The government admitted it long ago and the promised trade deals are much harder to clinch than we were told and proof of the failure. It's just a case of what do we do next, or how long do we faff about like this whilst our fortunes dissipate, before we realise - it was a mistake and we need to salvage what we can and change course.
