5th largest exporter, 4th largest importer, but whatever.

4th Largest exporter thanks to services.   We as a nation should aim to import less.

The point is Brexit has not been the disaster the usual suspects want to portray.

More sour grapes instead of acknowledging Brexit success.

The latest figures released which show the UK are now the fourth World's largest exporter  are sourced  from the UN Conference on Trade and Development and have not been made up by Kemi Badenoch.   The reason why the UK are now the World's 4th largest exporter is because Brexit has paved the way for trade barriers around the World to be removed making it easier to export goods and services.

Your lack of understanding is phenomenal.  Try looking at some up to date 2024 figures.

The UK isn't in the top ten exporters but is the fourth biggest importer. Now what happens when you continue to spend more than you earn?

You need to be more informed before accepting some of the figures that some produce.

For instance in this link the UK is the fifth biggest exporter in the world but take a look at what our single biggest export is.

Gold. We don't produce enough gold in this country to provide bling for a couple of Gangsta Rappers.  The inclusion of gold in our export figures is pure distortion intended to fool the gullible. https://news.sky.com/story/revealed-how-gold-takes-the-shine-off-britains-trade-figures-11057545

As I said previously, our service sector consisting of intangible products which provide limited employment is doing reasonably well, although not as well as pre Brexit. Our goods exports are suffering. Goods production is the main provider of jobs for the general public. This is not a sustainable situation.

Now please provide details of these superb trade deals which we have signed since Brexit and which are more beneficial than those we had as EU members.

A lot of cherry picked figures being bandied about - weirdly even the comments section on the Daily Mail is less than enthusiastic about it.

Sure, if you include financial services, we are marginally better than France or the Netherlands but remove those and just look at goods, it falls off a cliff. 48.7% of our exports are financial services, compare to roughly 25-30% for the other 2.

To quote from one commentator on the Mail website:

"Financial services. Not real goods from manufacturing which create and sustain employment, provides incomes and controls inflation. Large amounts of money digitally moved around now being counted as exports only provides for a few in the finance sector.

This is why ordinary families are struggling."

Still I suppose people will spin it to fit their particular agenda 🤷‍♂️

The Trans- Pacific Partnership will certainly be beneficial for the UK.  The UK has a free trade deal with the EU and if it was still a member of the EU then it would not have been able to join the Trans- Pacific Partnership.   The new trade deals being negotiated remove global trade barriers and the UK has the advantage to make agreements in the UK's own interest rather than being just one of 28 which was the case when the UK was a member of the EU.  The Trans -Pacific Partnership is the future and the UK is in a unique situation as the only EU country which does not have all its eggs in one basket.

The doom gloomers were saying the UK service sector would suffer as a consequence of Brexit.  That clearly is not the case.

Of course the UK should be aiming to export more manufactured goods.  The UK based motoring industry is increasing sales every month.  The UK should also be aiming to produce more of its own food.

It is still early days for Brexit and the new opportunities will be taken as every month passes.  The future is looking very good.
