How come for years they always said there cannot be a cure for the common cold. Along comes COVID19 and there is a 90% effective vaccine within 12 months. COVID19 is in the same virus catagory as the common cold.

Theres a Vaccine for flu and  theres always been a Beachum powder and a good hanky for common cold. :hihi:

The over 80's are top of the list. Age is the top priority. Pro Van Tam has just stated who is top of the list. The Government  pre ordered millions of the vaccine  from the company.

Though Johnson noticeably didn't answer Victoria McDonald's question if members of the cabinet will be amongst the first to receive the vaccine.

The whole world will be wanting this vaccine (assuming it works.)

Private company Pfizer got there first.

I wonder what they are going to charge for it? I think we are about to see the real power of private pharmaceutical companies.

My guess is there will be waiting lists a mile long, unless you're prepared to pay for it yourself.

So, the Government pre-ordered millions of doses of this before it was tested, then got it tested and "hey preso!" it passed the government's tests.  What a surprise, and what great foresight by HMG.  PR success before its even gone live!

Let's hope it does work - and that those in greatest need got it first - those NHS workers working closely with Covid, then Covid patients and the elderly who want it.

It sounds as if we're facing a bigger problem with this Mink variation - close the borders immediately and ban travel to and from Denmark as a matter of urgency.

It was a waste of a question that didn't deserve an answer. There was numerous sensible questions asked by other members of the media to Pro Van Tam which were excellently answered.

The Government have pre ordered 40  million doses before today's news.  From my understanding 2 doses will be needed for every person.

2 doses per person = 20 million people covered.

We have a population of 60 million. You do the maths.

Just said on the News, NHS are first in line for the Vaccine,  then over 80's and so on,  actually either way  will do for me.

Think that has been done.
