Tartempion
Can anyone give me advice about the best way (and for me this means the way with the fewest changes) to get to Liverpool airport from Sheffield City Centre by public transport? Thanks:)
flowerfairy
Direct train from Sheffield to Liverpool lime street every hour, then the airport bus from the bus terminal - not sure how frequent they are, but contact merseytravel and they will help. smartie
Its daft that the new Liverpool South Parkway Airport station opened on the 11th June, but only Merseyrail local metro trains stop there, not expresses from Manchester/elsewhere flowerfairy is spot on take Central Citylink from Sheffield to Liverpool Lime St, then Arriva bus 500: Liverpool - Airport every 30 mins (xx.00 & xx.30 from Lime St Stn) takes approx 45min. alternatively (or at night/early hours) take any Manchester Piccadilly train, then Arriva bus 700: Piccadilly Stn Approach - Liverpool Airport, every hour (xx.00) takes approx 1hr 15min Charley http://www.gmroads.co.uk
Fingers
I've just visited the Merseytravel website and there is a different rail-only route. Get a train from Sheffield to Warrington Central and then another train from Warrington Central to Liverpool South Parkway. Here's an example journey from later today: Rail Depart: 11:42 SHEFFIELD (rail) Provider: Central Trains Arrive: 12:57 WARRINGTON CENTRAL (rail) Rail Depart: 13:08 WARRINGTON CENTRAL (rail) Provider: Northern Rail Arrive: 13:33 LIVERPOOL SOUTH PARKWAY (rail) Here's a link the Merseytravel journey planner so you can input the times and dates you want. http://nw.aimwebsites.co.uk/JourneyPlanner.jsp?vm_Reset_str=true

Damon
Its daft that the new Liverpool South Parkway Airport station opened on the 11th June, but only Merseyrail local metro trains stop there, not expresses from Manchester/elsewhere http://www.gmroads.co.uk I believe the introduction of new services to Liverpool South Parkway is being staggered, so the expresses will begin stopping there when the timetables change next time - I think that's December. In the meantime, the airport bus is very frequent from town. But a train to Warrington Central and then a train to Liverpool South Parkway would be very straightforward too. South Parkway is about 5 mins on the shuttle bus from the airport.
