The police objection was 7 days after the deadline and neither the police or planning officer get in touch when I emailed them to discuss any concerns. Im appealing the decision but the council is bent and the police turn a blind eye to the brothel that is 5 metres away from my land but object to a legitimate business idea. Already plenty of cafes takeaways ect on Cliffe a few brothels as well I imagine plenty of scrapyards place is badly managed council dunt care anymore! SheffieldForum
Detailed Plans for Attercliffe Regeneration to be Reviewed by Sheffield City Council Regeneration of Spartan Works Next week, Sheffield City Council will review detailed plans for new homes as part of the major regeneration of the Attercliffe area. The redevelopment of the former Spartan Works steelworks on Attercliffe Road is seen as a significant opportunity for the city's growth, according to a report to be presented to the planning committee on Tuesday, July 9. First Phase of Attercliffe Waterside Scheme The amended plans for the first phase of the Attercliffe Waterside scheme include some demolition, the construction of new buildings up to 14 storeys high, and the conversion of existing industrial structures. The project aims to create 362 new homes, commercial units, public spaces, car and cycle parking, and a new footbridge over the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal. Commercial and Residential Development The 2,008 square metres of commercial floor space will be housed within retained buildings fronting Attercliffe Road. This development is part of a broader regeneration plan for Attercliffe, supported by £17 million in government Levelling Up funding. The plan also includes the creation of a world-leading Centre for Child Health Technology, the transformation of the Adelphi Theatre into a cultural hub, and connectivity projects linking the Olympic Legacy Park with the Attercliffe Road high street. Historical Significance and Modern Transformation The report highlights Attercliffe's historical association with the steel industry, noting its rapid development in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This period saw the growth of terraced workers’ housing, supported by local churches, pubs, shops, and businesses. However, the decline of the steel industry in the late 20th century and slum clearance led to a significant reduction in the local population. Revised Housing Plans The number of homes has been reduced from 447 to 362, including 301 apartments and 61 houses. Many of the 182 one-bedroom homes will be open studio-style apartments. There will also be homes with two to four bedrooms, including some townhouses. The first phase is designed to appeal primarily to young professionals, while the second phase will be more family-oriented. Bridge Redesign The new footbridge has been redesigned to remove major concrete abutments, which could have appeared unsightly from the towpath and attracted graffiti. This change is intended to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area. Sheffield City Council’s decision on these plans will be a key step in the ongoing regeneration of Attercliffe, aiming to revitalise the area and provide modern housing and amenities. 1 Sheffield Forum | The Sheffield Guide | The Sheffield Shop
