lakerman
Having worked at Ponds Forge for S.I.V. and for other agencies over the years, and I have also been a customer many many times, I am deeply saddened by the latest bombshell. I knew there were financial problems but I didn't think it would come to this. I sincerely hope that something can be done to get the place open and running as soon as possible. Not only is it a great loss to the people of Sheffield who have benefitted from the use of this great place ,but all the former and up and coming athletes who have also had the opportunity to take advantage of the fantastic facilities. There will be a massive effect on the local economy as a result as well. Finally and by no means the least important is the prospect of massive job losses . Some of those that will suffer are former work colleagues of mine and I feel deeply concerned for them. I hope that the people of Sheffield realise just what a loss this is and that somehow there can be a reprieve.

Could not agree more have used the venue and the pool in particular regularly over many decades. The staff were always friendly and have particularly fond memories of Charlie Quinn RIP. who was a great personal trainer there and became a friend .The pool was regularly used for national events and the atmosphere was always buzzing when they were on but in the week during the day had a lovely relaxed feel.Really hope they can save it but I fear the worst there were rumours it was closing before. Colin Foster
It will be a devastating blow to Sheffield if pf never reopens. There aint many places in the country who can boast of having an Olympic sized pool and attracting top athletes.
bluecanary
It's very worrying times for the aquatics clubs that are reliant on the specialist facilities there and have nowhere else to train. Current word is it will remain closed until at least April, by which time it will be too late. Such a shame for the world class and up and coming athletes who train there as well as the coaches that support them.
