If the orchestra is going to play Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia I would assume the audience will be singing like gusto as per normal, so how does the BBC plan to edit out their words but keep just the music?   Or is the music going to be a prior recording and not live ?

Playing Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia is likely to appeal to an older audience, but will turn off the younger ones. This story has nothing to do with our history or racism, singing these songs is just a thing of the past.

It's pretty simple. There will be no audience to sing along to the music this year which is why we will no hear the words. Hopefully next year the covid 19 won't prevent the live audience taking part as normal next year.  Nothing nonsense about people who still have pride in their country and respect tradition.  What is nonsense is those who seek to to stop others enjoying an annual event by attempting to ban traditions British songs.

Who is trying to ban anything?

Thank you West77 for your  most sensible and balanced view of this absurd charade. Let the snowflakes think what they want and let us get on with singing what we want without their censorship.

However, this has all the hallmarks of another piece of misdirection as the powers that be try to use statues and song lyrics to distract us from more important stuff, like poverty, lack of opportunity and racism. Don’t fall for it.
