Hhhmmmm!!

2nd visit. 6:30pm. 12ft 1:75lb rod and 12lb line!!

fed a corner, 20-30 mins nice 10/11lb common!!

Think this pond could have some half decent fish in it!!

Is it on C.D.A.A, Sheff council?

Well worth another visit!!

For those that read these posts, please comment so I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time!!

2nd visit to Howbrook.

been feeding a corner for past 2 nights.

nice easy bait, straying away from the norm, bookies, pellets etc.

arrived 6:30

People fishing 3 pegs I’ve been feeding!!

Not seen many (4 in 2 days!!) fishing!

Typical!!!

fished peg up from where I’ve been feeding.

Fished 12lb  to 10lb bottom.

stumpy, loaded waggler.

Size 10 barbless hook

A rods length out.

Few knocks in first 15-20 mins.

Got just over 1 1/4 hours fishing in, sunset at 7:18

Dip, dip, vanish. Floats just shot off into the reeds!

The fish tried taking me all round the pond!! Bit nervy when you know there’s at least 6 lines to your left!!
16lb ish, (17 really!!) Mirror,Lovely condition.

A good 2nd visit.

Well worth a full days fishing.

Have you found out who now runs Howbrook? I did hear that the controlling club were facing a big rent increase and were considering giving it up. It did suffer badly from cormorant predation but it must have been  re-stocked because I drove past a while ago and there was tape criss crossing the water.

I have fished it a few times but not for a couple of years.

Thanks for the replies!!

Was speaking to a blokewho was shooting rats. He was very informative saying that Chapletown are taking it on next year, and will be pumping the money from day tickets back into the water. Was also saying that some work on the pegs will be getting done.

Carp are upto 25-30lb, good stock of barbel and tench.

IF this is true, and the works get done this could be a cracking little fishery.
Definitely worth buying a season book for next year.

Going up tonight to pre-bait for Sunday night!!

Will put up what happens, if anything!!!!

Only one fishing again tonight, same bloke as yesterday.

Freebies worked!!!!

Not one of the bigger carp I was hoping for!!!

But, non the less, I caught, again, with just over an hours fishing.

There IS barbel in there.
Absolutely perfect condition fish. Not a net buster, 2 1/2 to 3lb, but like I said in tip top condition.

Definitely worth a year book for 2021, even if it’s upto an hours drive!!

Looking forward to checking out Mill dam over next 2/3 days!!

Will post my findings!!

I posted earlier about Mill Dam at loxley.

Had an hour tonight up at Howbrook, again!!

Same set up, same bait, same side.
Wasn’t expecting much, 10 -15 mins in I pulled out the very same common I had on my first visit!! Could tell by the mouth, seen better days!!

Thought that would of been my lot, fishing so close in.
Again, the float glides under, thought it was another smallish barbel, not much fight but darting side to side to the reeds. It’s tail breaks the surface a rods length out and it’s off!!! This is no barbel!! The lights dropping fast, and this thing is bending my 1.75lb t/c barbel rod double!!

I’m only on 10lb bottom!!

I was taken through the reed beds on both sides of the peg, more than once!

Lovely common, bigger than the first, low 20s, easy 22lb.

Got to be some 25-30lbmirrors in there if the commons are that big.

Different bloke fishing tonight!!

Mentioned it doesn’t fish too well during the day??

Nice day tomorrow, I could squeeze 3-4 hours in,might see if this is true.
