Local dialect of sheffield

I aways thought Hobbies was Gypsy for horse Hobble's,icould be wrong.I left Sheffield in 46,around the world 10 times over. came to Canada in65 i didn't think i had an accent but on meeting different expats i still get "O ah and what part of Yorkshire are you,fm some part of the accent you never lose.

1 / " dish clart" ,meaning dish-cloth

2 / "wap-can",meaning old english for type of chamber-pot,but South Yorkshire for "barm-pot." or idiot.

3/ "asl snotter thi ",meaning .I shall hurt you

4/ "Nathen, me owd fettler",meaning ,Hello,my friend . or alternately, 5/ "Nathen me owd tatie."
