Freehold
I own a flat with a short lease. The freehold has reverted to 'the crown'. How complicated is it to have the lease extended?
topflat29
Does the Land Registry record show the current holder of freehold title is the Crown ? or Bona Vacantia ? I think you have to declare yourself as one of leaseholders in the building by a letter to the crown , stating you wish to buy the freehold title and ask how much ? Jeffrey Shaw
No. A tenant (leaseholder) of a flat does not have any right to enfranchise. BUT the collective tenants, or at least 50% of them, can seek enfranchisement via the Treasury Solicitor on behalf of the Crown (assuming that the freehold reversion has not been disclaimed) or from the Crown itself (if it has been disclaimed). topflat29
If you are a small block , you can make the enquiry and see what terms the crown demands from leaseholders
