Clio182
You could consider The Supper Club just past the Industrial Hamlet on Abbeydale Road. It's cheaper than the Old Vicarage, but the food is still fantastic. We've never had bad meal there from the days when it was Carriages, still the same ower/chef set up. phone No 01142 350101 ps I don't work there :-)
sanman
Old Vicarage is superb, however The Greenhead House Restaurant at Chapeltown is also very very good.
Ade65
If you want a genuinely classy feel, I think you need to go to Rafters at Nether Green. Catch/Artisan at Crosspool is also good. Ade
applejuice
Have you tried Crystal ? I'd have to say that's one of the better establishments in Sheffield. Really nice upstairs, really nice downstairs and really great food. Had the Seabass the other week.. Yum! PM me if you want the number, I've got it around here somewhere.. Unisol
No-one's mentioned boho which is our current favourite. Also like Milano's, Crystal (service can be variable), Walnut Club, Blue Room, Zucca @ St Pauls etc.

johnbradley
does it have to be 'sophisticated'? the kashmir curry centre serves excellent food, the owner often engages you in polite discussion and the prices are great. but there's no fancy decor or owt...good food and conversation, its a winner:)
