Just did some searching and found about construction worker being stabbed to death by colleague few months ago. That did not make national news. El Cid comment is correct and accurate because being MP stabbed the flags go down but not if you get stabbed. An MP has been elected as a representative by thousands of people - kill the MP and you're negating the wishes of all those electors and putting yourself / your cause above the democratic process. Being investigated as one - not the same thing. Prevent is a mess, so being known to Prevent is no cast iron guarantee that the guy is actually a terrorist. It will be interesting to see what the reaction (outside of the media) is to this. This is a country where a couple of hundred Covid deaths a day is seen as a fair trade off for being able to go the pub and not having to wear a mask in B&Q, so outside his constituency the reaction might be a shrug and 'these things happen'.
